Unity in a bowl.

Definition of Food

Wikipedia: Food is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body.

Joyce : Food is a substance that unites everybody. Especially when hungry.

It just wouldn't make sense if I didn't do a post on food when in Penang.

So here it is.

We went to a famous stall.

There are many ways to enjoy food.

Let my cousin show you.

Use your hands.

Or a fork.

Or chopstick(s)

Or like this.

As a Malaysian, I'm sure we are proudest of our food.

It isn't campaigns or talks or speeches that has united us.

Its food.
Well, partially.

Difference in culture yet in a bowl of noodles/nasi lemak/roti canai
we can share.

In a bowl, we put aside all differences.
In a bowl, we enjoy. Together.
In a bowl, we share.

Talking about food.

CHINESE NEW YEAR is just around the corner.

Folks, though you are allowed to fully indulge and enjoy your food.
Remember to watch it.

We all know how our food pyramid is during this season.

Don't deny it.
Please ignore the spelling mistake.
GAHH.

So eat.

But in moderation.

We want angpao(s).

not bills.

Take care of your health.

And cherish the things you can get in a bowl.

Till tomorrow,
Cheers.

Outing.

Remember this face.

We were preparing to go for a small outing.

To Straights Quay. (Belle thought we were going to Tesco.)

However, upon entering my room.
The artist in her decided that she needed to express herself.

So she did.

On top of my old sketches.
Heh.
I didn't need them anymore.

We really had to get going.

BUT.

You cannot rush art.

.... so we waited.

On the way to "TESCO" (aka Straight Quay), We had a discussion about
my cousin's family's upcoming trip to Singapore.

They had been going through with her the animals she would see.

So they decided to ask her again.
Just to see how many she would remember.

These are the animals/things she stated that the Singapore zoo consists of.

1. Elephant
2. Zebra
3. Barney (the purple dinosaur)
4. Lizard
5. Pumpkin

*My personal favourite would be number 5.

Eventually we reached.

Admired the entrance.

Went to Delicious for dessert.

The 'boss' ordered.

We ate.

It was nice.

Then we went to explore the mall.

And Isabelle decided to pose.

So did her father.

*the pictures speak for themselves. No captions required.

All I can say is that it was a great night out.

Greatest moments in life are usually spent with the people that love
you the most.

You don't have to dress up,
or wear make up,
or do your hair,
or even shower (though highly recommended).

Yet they have loved you, still love you, and will love you.

No matter what.

Last but not least,

who needs shuffling when there is the 'BABY BOP HOP'.

My cousin invented the latest dance move.
It attracts more attention than any head-spinning-flipping-feet-shuffling move
ever created.

ONLY try this at home.
Especially those of you who have passed
your 'cute' years.

You could do this with your family.
So you know that even if you seriously embarrass yourself,

they still (HAVE TO) love you.

Till tomorrow,
CHEERS.

Baby steps.

NIKE.
JUST DO IT.

But do it with
baby steps.

My cousin is adorable. Capital A-dorable.

Yesterday when her parents got home, she stuck to her mum like glue.
Her poor father called for her.

She ignored.

Out of desperation,
He pulled out a secret weapon.

The guy looks about 100 years older.

Anyways,
upon seeing the green coloured 5 dollar bill.
She started to walk towards her dad.

Heh.

I honestly think she has no clue what money is.
She just knows that the green thing is her ticket to tons of...

TESCO RIDES.
Location: Outside the stores.
Cost: About a dollar for two minutes.

BUT

She had to work for it.

Her job was to remove my uncle's socks. * CUTENESS OVERLOAD*

If she had a baby resume.
It would be something like this.

Can move heavy items.

Can be extremely cute.

Can act.  First happy.

Then emo.

Can feed own self.

BEST OF ALL.

Can ALSO feed dogs.

Besides spending time with my lovely cousin,

I found some pictures of my uncles and my dad when they were young.

Photo albums under the closet.

My dad.

Uncle Boey.
The crazy good artist.
Visit him at iamboey.com

Uncle Sean.
My cousin's father.

Looking at all the pictures made me think.

We all start of the same,
young and innocent.
Unaware of what is going to happen in the future.

The best thing to do is to be child-like.
not CHILD-ISH.

Take baby steps.
To be happy with the simplest things.
To give thanks for what we have.

Because it keeps getting better.

Till tomorrow.
Cheers.
*I just might do another one later on*

Humidity and Humility.

I MADE IT OFF THE PLANE ALIVE.
Victory face.

I had a two hour flight.

Then when I landed, I saw this small Indian lady that was carrying
two ginormous plastic bags

AND

a luggage bag

AND

a baby

AND

holding the hand of an approximately
5 year old girl.

What surprised me the most was that nobody offered her
any help.

So I did. (Mummy and daddy I hope you're reading this)

Anyways,

On the drive back to my grandparent's house,
I took a few shots of the scenery of Penang.

CHAR KOAY TEOW

Open-air food stalls.

Oldish looking building
that reminds me of OLD PENANG.

I saw the beauty in Penang,
it comes of as humble and unknown yet quietly stunning.

Not like the cheerleader/popular/rich/femal-ish woof woof (you know
what i mean) girl in school...
kind of beauty.

More like the

quiet-yet-kind-schoolgirl-that-is-unaware-of-how-truly-beautiful-she-is...
kind of beauty.

When i got to my grandparent's house.
It felt really nice.

Comfortable.

Only flaw was that the gate didn't work.
Heh.

I got my first welcome from
none other than
MIMI.

I love my grandparents. Sweet people.
I had lunch with them then enjoyed a discussion with my two year old cousin.

Here's an extract of our intense exchange of theories.

My theory of why my parents work

is for them to earn money.

Hers....

She loves going to TESCO.

Well,

it was a good day of laughter,

learning to offer a hand,

learning to enjoy simple things.

Penang reminds me to be HUMBLE. To express and not to impress.

Before i sign off,

let me illustrate to you just how HOT and HUMID it is here.

Yes. It is slightly exaggerated.

Till tomorrow.
Cheers.

Darkest Hour.

Daily Announcement: I shall be flying to Penang tomorrow.

via AIR ASIA.

So i decided to make a little joke about it through my drawing.

HEH.

However,
AIRASIA is a great airline

Today, I had quite a lot of fun.

I played Time Crisis in the arcade.

To be exact, i played...

TIME CRISIS 2.

Not time crisis... peace.

After that I went to watch this movie,

I honestly learnt quite a lot from that movie.

There was a scene where this guy and his girlfriend were running from the alien-ish-
lightning-buzzing-human-vaporating-thing. They ran into a narrow alley. He was in front so he shut the door. Leaving his poor (very beautiful) girlfriend outside...

 TO DIE.

When they asked him why he did that,

He said:

Though everyone wants to think of themselves as courageous,
there are those moments (his-leaving-his-girlfriend-to-die moment),
where people react without thinking.

It is those moments you realize what kind of person you are.

He was selfish and a coward.

BOO!! (reader[s] please boo along with me)

Now let me give you a little spoiler,

My own version of the movie.

They run.

They plan.

They shoot.

So, even after a whole day of fun.
I remembered to learn something.

I learned that I must KNOW who I am as a person.

Not just THINK i know.

It takes the greatest person to be courageous in the darkest hour.

Before i leave, here's a little ENLIGHTENMENT.

I went to get my photo taken for my medical check up.

Turned out decent i guess.

Spot the difference.

*laughs*

Till next time (tomorrow),
CHEERS.

Lessons Learned

It's Friday.. Friday...

Wait...

It's Sunday... Sunday...

Its a Sunday night and my sister is off to a party,
and so are my lovely parents.

How about me?

Though I might consider eating too.

WELL...

I have learnt quite a few lessons today.
Let me share with you the AMAZING things i've learnt.

LESSON 1
I SHOULD BE....

Today when i finally woke up (8.30), I realize that I had to get ready for church.
And I was a little bit unorganized.

A LITLLE BIT.

TEENY TINY BIT.

First, I couldn't find my camera charger. When i finally found it...
Then, I couldn't find my socks. *I was holding it*. When i found that...
I then misplaced my shirt. *Apparently i put it back*. When i found that...
I couldn't find my phone.

*15 minutes later*

I did.

To prevent further stress, unwanted grey hair, overlapping wrinkles,
headaches and EXTREME frustration.

BE ORGANIZE.

LESSON 2

I SHOULD BE...

I swim.
I used to swim.
*sigh*

I swam. (Note the past tense)

Besides changing the channels of the tv,
I must admit I don't do much exercise anymore. Which is a
shame. I think all the sickness can smell my lack of activity.....

SO THEY ATTACK ME. *cough cough*

So healthy-radiant-strong-exercising reader(s),

KEEP IT UP.

I heard this fantastic quote today.
"YOU WERE CREATED TO WALK IN
THE IMPOSSIBLE"

So don't end up like this..

LAST BUT NOT LEAST.

Wear tons of sunblock under hot sun. Wear it even if there is barely sun.

P/s: Nobody likes SUNBURNS.

LESSON 3

I SHOULD ...

Shout out to Abel!

Happy Birthday future Singer/Actor/Dancer?/Famous person.

Anyways...
I wanted to talk about this lesson because

I love it when

... little kids hold the doors for others even though its so heavy for them
... people give up their seats on buses/trains for those in need
... students offer to carry teacher's bags or heavy items
... an older brother gives his ice cream to his younger sister

BASICALLY, I love it when people can willingly put others first.

*Beep beep*
YAY!
My phone rang.
heh.
Thanks to last minute planning,
guess i won't be staying home alone tonight.

Till next time.
(Which would probably be tomorrow)
Cheers.
