The vow.

Number of years of marriage change,

but the vow made will always remain.

I promise

to be the one that pours you coffee each morning,
to tolerate you when the world doesn't,
to tell you how great you look and mean it each time I say it.

I promise

to take your hand and also your groceries,
to move heavy items when you don't have the strength to,
to provide for all your needs..
and occasionally your wants.

I promise

to support your decisions,
even when they don't make sense.
to go out of my way to cook you what you like,
to be the last one you say goodnight to,
and the first you bid good morning.
(Sometimes its the children though)

I promise

to pretend to have architectural knowledge and talk to you about it.
to give you advice in household stuff that I don't really know much of.
to work hard in the office,
come home and clean the fish pond.
to run errands all day and not complain.

I promise

to laugh at your jokes when they're not funny.
to smile a you as much as I can,
and to never look at any other the way I look at you.
to be your shield,
to even sacrifice my umbrella for you in the rain.

I promise

to love and to cherish you all the days of my life.
and to forever call you
my husband; my wife.

Happy Anniversary Mummy and Daddy.
Too bad I wasn't there to witness your vows.

So I wrote my own version.

Wednesday 21 March 2012

Happy Birthday (Not -so) Ol' Man.

The first man I loved and still do.

My dad,
He is as stiff as a tree.
Can barely touch his toes.

HAHAHAH.

But,
He’s a tree for greater reasons.

A tree,
Is not a thief of glory.
But to it glory is bestowed.
It grows to its height,
Feeds not off others.
It’s leaves reside in the light of day.
Gleaming.

Even waters of the sky;
And winds of the sea,
Cannot shake thee.
In it strength is found.

Though lifted up,
Higher above all.
It’s branches does not boast.
Its roots,
rooted deep in the soil of the earth.

Scorching sun ever present,
Burns mercilessly upon all.
But those who find refuge in its shadows,
Remain at peace.

Many come to your shelter,
Some can call you home.

I am but a seed.
What good is a seed without nurture?
It remains unnoticed.
Lies uncovered by the world.
Its absence carries no meaning.

Yet,
I am joyful.
For I know my father.
and
I am only as great as he is.

With that in mind,
My future is secured.

Happy Birthday Daddy.

What would you do?

A very clever person popped me a question today.

About my future.
My child(ren).

When I have my son/daughter...
What would I do?

I don't want to put extreme expectations on him/her.
Not the need for straight A's.
Nor having to be in the best class.
Don't even have to be drop-dead-gorgeous.

Heh.

If SOMEHOW my child turns out to be extremely clever,

I wouldn't push it.

I don't want to isolate them from the rest of the world.
Or for them to isolate themselves.
I want them to have friends.
To have a childhood filled with fun memories...

not multiplications/ subtractions/ and BIG BIG WORDS.

I want them to enjoy the world.
And not feel judged.
Nor should they judge the world in return.

"But shouldn't we teach our children
 to be excellent,
to stand out,
to be spectacular,
to one day become president! "

Well, why not.
I'm just saying...

There is beauty in being normal.

Youth is an art form.

Today,
during my Editing Media Text lecture.
We got to analyze the concepts of collages.

Our lecturer used the above picture as an example of a
BAD collage.

He asked.
"How can you improve this?
Make this look better?"

someone shouted.

"Marijuana"

Stop and stare

I was flipping through my photos.

and i found this.

First day of Chinese New Year,
I was in Penang. Surrounded by more relatives
than I could count. I remember being a little overwhelmed by
how big my WHOLE family is. I am used to just about 4.
Mum, Dad, Pris, Me

Now.
In my room.
In a foreign country.
Sitting in about the same position as I was in the picture,
I'm staring at not so much a crowd.

My room is empty. It's just me.
But I'm not lonely or sad.

I sit here remembering that I find joy in family.
Even in their absence, they are ever present.

Love is stronger than wifi.

Google really understands me.

Today when I was hungry,
I went on google.

I googled....

Noob = Dummies

Surprisingly, I found a page.

The moment I saw SIMPLE.

I clicked.

*clicked*

This are the ingredient i used.
I did a little alteration from the actual recipe.
That's what chefs do.

Apologies for the deform garlic.

Basically,
boil noodles.
fry egg,
fry vege.
add noodles.
add COOKED chicken.
mix like a mad women.
add sauces.
eat.

Not the best looking dish in the world.

BUT IT IS GOOD.

Cheers.

Rolling stones

I have a classmate.
He is in a band.
He is quite cool.

For class today,
he presented a project.
It was pretty.

So.
We asked him if he knew how to sew.

He said there was this one time.
He went to buy fabric.

"Fabric is freakin expensive!" he said.

He had this idea to sew a dress for his girlfriend.

Before starting,
He drank wine.

Then started cutting away.

Then he realized..

It wasn't going well.

Well, that answered our question.
